Kim Bookard, a native Washingtonian, received her primary education in the District’s parochial school system and graduated from Frank W. Ballou Senior High School. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of the District of Columbia. In the fall of 2001, she entered a dual graduate degree program receiving a Master’s of Social Work degree from Howard University in May 2004, and Master’s of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary in May 2006. Presently, Rev. Bookard serves as Ministerial Advisor to both Children and Youth ministries at Covenant Baptist UCC located in Washington, DC.
Rev. Bookard, a dynamic, creative, and Spirit-led young woman, has exercised her God-given artistic gifts as a vehicle for ministry as both a poet and playwright. She has written and performed her own works in various schools, churches, and community organizations throughout the metropolitan area. Rev. Bookard promotes a message of God’s love through creative expression to an array of audiences. However, her passion for young people is the cornerstone of her ministry and professional endeavors.
She is an employee at UDC as an Educational Talent Search Counselor. Rev. Bookard also volunteers countless hours mentoring, advising, and empowering young people in the community to improve life outcomes for themselves and their families.
