Rev. Katrina L. Carter is a native Washingtonian. She grew up in the Brightwood/Petworth neighborhoods and attended DC Public Schools. Rev. Carter graduated from the University of the District of Columbia with a Bachelors of Social Work degree and attended the Howard University School of Social Work graduating with a Masters of Social Work concentrating in Child Welfare and Mental Health. Reverend Carter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly twenty years experience in social work working with children and adults in child welfare; juvenile justice; and mental health. She currently works at Saint Elizabeths Hospital as the Director of Social Work and Community Integration.
Rev. Carter believes that God called her to social work to prepare her for ministry. She has learned to work with people at their lowest point and help them to believe that they can recover and helps them to achieve recovery. She believes that God has called her to use her skills and knowledge as a social worker and her knowledge as a minister to help people achieve wholeness in their lives through the integration of the mind, body and spirit.
Rev. Carter graduated from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in May 2016 where she earned her Master of Divinity degree. She currently serves as a Co-Servant Leader for the Evangelism and Outreach Ministries and also serves the Children and Youth Ministries as well as the Christian Education Ministry.
