Social Justice

The mission and purpose of the Social Justice Ministry is to identify some of the major social issues (poverty, services to seniors, vote education/registration, housing, unemployment, literacy, reparations, etc.) that impact our congregations and the community; and to seek solutions through educational forums, distribution of information, lobbying local/national officials and protest demonstrations.

Some of our major activities include: the distribution of literature on issues such as Social Security and bankruptcy, partnering with the Washington Interfaith Network (WIN) to improve neighborhood services, organizing our congregation to participate in major demonstrations, sponsoring education forums on local, national and international issues, and "Social Justice Minute" presentations during our Sunday worship services.
