At our church...

In April, in an endeavor to find a more suitable location for the new church, the Executive Commitee authorized the taking of an option on a lot on South Capitol and Xenia Streets. Rev. Harry How continued as pastor until October 1947.

The first U.S. coin honoring an African American, Booker T. Washington, is issued.

President Harry S. Truman appoints William Hastie as Governor of the Virgin Islands.

The first group of Black officers are integrated into the regular U.S. Army.

President Harry S. Truman sets up the Central Intelligence Agency.
