VIRTUOUS. Righteous. Upright. Pure. Moral. Ethical. Virtuous.
Who are you when no one else is watching? What kind of person and Christian are you when no one else is watching? What kind of parent, friend, and partner are you when no one else is watching?
In life, it’s easy to put on a show. To say the “right” things and do what others expect of us; but if those words and actions are not a reflection of our true essence, what’s the point? God doesn’t want our perfection, and sure God isn’t fooled by our pretending. Rather, as people of faith who claim to love God, we are called to have integrity, be pure, ethical, righteous, and virtuous. We are called to live in a way challenges and calls others around us to embrace a greater level of integrity and righteousness, without saying one word, and by our actions and example alone.
We are called to be the same when we stand in the spotlight as we are in darkness. Our actions and our words should matter not what human being may be watching or listening, rather we should seek our words and our lives to be holy and righteous because it’s who God has called us to be. Each moment of each day, in light and in darkness, amidst crowds and when alone. Have ethics and integrity, be righteous and pure, seek to live virtuously, not to impress others, rather so our actions and the words of our mouth/meditations of our hearts may be pleasing in the sight of our God, our rock, our redeemer.
